Late night revellers in Lincoln found their celebrations taking an unexpected but welcome turn on Christmas Eve. A candle lit procession on the High Street marked the beginning of #flashchristmas, a flash mob midnight mass organised by members of the luminous community.
Some of those attending knew of the event in advance through friends, social media and BBC Lincolnshire. About half where curious passers by who stayed. Typical was one young man who walked right past, stopped, turned round and came back. After receiving communion he thanked organisers for ‘making Christmas real’.
